Variations, Rarity and Value: This is a clamshell that has a glossy pearl lustre with a pure white colour. Tridacna clams produce large white pearls which are highly valuable because of their rarity. The largest pearl is known as the Pearl of Lao Tzu or the Pearl of Allah and it weighed 6.4 kilogrammes and was found by a diver from the Philippines in 1934.
